The Chiefs improve to an AFC West best 6-1, after downing the Cincinnati Bengals in their week 8 match up 45-10. The story has been the same for the Chiefs all season, and that story is Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill. Both are currently ranked in the top 10 in Fan pts. Mahomes at 2nd and Hill at 8th. Mahomes passed for 358 while throwing 4 touchdowns and only 1 interception, this has become a norm for Mahomes has he has thrown for 300+ years 6 games in a row for the Chiefs. For Hill, he has proven that he is not a one trick pony, as he has become not only a down field weapon for Mahomes, but he also has become one of the best open field runners in the game. With these two clicking, it is hard to imagine the Chiefs losing, and when you throw in players like Kareem Hunt, Sammy Watkins, and Travis Kelce, the Chiefs have the best Offensive in football. With almost half of the season complete, the Chiefs have established themselves as the team to beat in the AFC and if it wasn’t for the Ram, the whole NFL. The Chiefs go into week 9 squaring off against the Denver Broncos who currently sit in third of the AFC West sporting a record of 3-4. This is no Cake walk however, when looking at it from a fantasy perspective. The Broncos allow the 10th fewest point to WR, while allowing the 6th fewest to QBs. With that said it will be interesting to see if the Chiefs change their proven successful game plan to combat the talented Denver defense.

Marist's own Jason Myers, who is currently the starting kicker for the New York Jets, had a huge week 6 for his team. Meyers went off in the Jets week 6 match up against the Indianapolis Colts. He kicked 7 field goals to help his team push through to a 43-34 victory, bringing them to an even 3-3. Before the season started, Meyers wasn't even sure he was going to have a team to kick for in the 2018 season. This was because at the end of the 2017 season he was released from the Jaguars and put in the free agent market. But right before the start of the 2018 season the New York Jets came knocking and offered the kicker a spot on the team. An opportunity he didn't pass up, this season has been Meyers most consistence year yet, and it seems that the fantasy community is taking notice. Last week, before coming off an 11 Fan Pt performance against the Broncos. Meyer's owned percentage stayed steady at 1% (Not to brag but I was part of the one percent). But after his 27 Fan pt performance last week that percentage shut up to 14%. Hopefully, Meyers doesn't disappoint his new following in this weeks match-up against the Vikings, coming off a week like he had Meyers is definitely the kicker to watch this week!
Alvin Kamara, of the New Orleans Saints, went off in his team's week 4 match-up against the New York Giants. Although the Giants aren't off to a great start, their run defense has been no push over this year allowing an average of of 19.4 Fan Pts a week, through their first 3 competitions. But Kamara put that average to shame and made a mockery of the Gaint's defense as he rushed for 134 yards and was able to score 3 touchdowns. This earned fantasy owners a season high 41.10 Fan Pts from Alvin. Kamara is off to a fast start this season, however, with Saints Veteran back Mark Ingram set to return from his four game suspension next week will Kamara loss some touches? From the outside looking in, it is clear that Kamara is the undisputed number 1 back for the Saints. However, it will be interesting to see if Ingram will take away red-zone snaps from Kamara as he did in the 2017 season which led to Ingram scoring a career high 12 touchdowns. Although, Ingram had considerably more attempts then Kamara last season he still proved that although he is entering into his 8th season with he Saints he is still a valuable asset. With the Saints returning to full strength at the RB position and their team virtually running on full throttle it will be interesting to see if they continue to run the NFC South as they have for the past two years.
Week 1 of the 2018 NFL season comes to an end on Monday night. And after the first week of any fantasy season, there are always those that preform above expectations and those who do not. But we are here to discuss the three players that out shined the field, and accumulated the most fantasy points in week 1. Starting off our list at the number 3 spot is a player that is only owned in about 15% of all Yahoo fantasy leagues and that is non other then Tampa Bay QB, Ryan Fitzpatrick. He racked in 42.28 points, after throwing for a whopping 417 yards with 4 touchdowns to show for it, and whats even more impressive is that he threw no interceptions. Even after his monster week the fantasy universe seems to think this is a fluke performance as his team is lined up against the defending Super Bowl champions in week 2 and his stock has raised only slightly. Second on our list is Kansas City star WR Tyreek Hill, scoring 42.30 points for his fantasy owners. He was able to receive for 169 yard with 2 touchdowns and just to add a cherry on top he returned a punt for a 91 yard touchdown in the first quarter. He looks to repeat his monster week with his week two match up against the Stealers in Pittsburgh on Sunday. And finally coming in at our number 1 spot accumulating a week 1 high of 43.10 points, is Saints RB Alvin Kamara. He may have only rushed for 29 yards, but was able to punch in 2 TDs. However, thats not where Kamara shined, it was his 112 receiving yards and 1 receiving TD that separated him from the the rest of the pack. He looks to have another great week as the Saints are set to play the Browns week 2. With week two starting tomorrow we look forward to yet another exciting week full of surprises and full of stand outs. With this years football season starting on Thursday, many leagues wait till the last possible minute to do their draft as to avoid drafting while the preseason is going on, to avoid possibly drafting someone and having them get hurt before the season even starts. With this said, this season in particular is leaving fantasy team owners who posses their leagues first overall pick with a lot of tough options. In the past, there has always been a clear cut number one pick however, this year it is not that simple. To start, according to yahoo sports projections, Todd Gurley is the projected number one pick, which is understandable as he led the league in rushing TDs, receiving TDs (among RBs), and he was second in the league in both rushing yards and receiving yards (among RBs). With all that said it is a question of consistency with Gurley. Will he be able to follow up a career season with a just as strong or better season or will he fall back into the middle of the pack where before last season he was a regular. Next, the man that is synonymous with the top pick, Le'veon Bell. Bell has dominated the league over the past five years, resulting in three 1,000+ yard seasons. Bell ,coming off his first complete season in three years, is entering into his contract year, and like most NFL stars, Bell is making sure he is going to get paid to play. However, in his case, Bell is making sure that he is going to get paid before he even shows up to team camp. With the season starting Thursday, Bell is a huge question mark, I have no doubt that if he does come to a contract agreement he will continue to put up superstar numbers, but until he reports to team camp no one can know for sure if he will be ready for week one let alone the season. And Lastly, another RB throws his hat in the ring, David Johnson. After only playing in one game last year, Johnson suffered a season ending wrist injury, which has lowered his preseason ranking far lower then his projected draft ranking. This being said fantasy owners are forced to look back on the 2016 season, and the numbers speak for themselves, he rushed for 1,239 yards and rushed in for 16 TDs, while receiving for 879 yards and scoring 4 receiving TDs. The question remains as to who the most favored number one pick will be, but as it is for all fantasy football picks, its hit or miss.
