Going into Mondays game I would like to think that Fantasy leagues around the country had 1-2 teams that were hanging on by a thread waiting for the Monday night game to end hoping that the points they had point up on Sunday were going to be enough to hold off their opponents. And just like majority of the teams that were in the boat, its normally never enough to hold of the other team whether he has one player and he is a kicker, if he need to 20 points to beat you, you better just check yourself into the consolation bracket. Because whether you want to admit it or not you know deep down in your head that somehow this kicker is going to get those 20 points and them some just in spite of your team’s performance. At this point, you have probably been able to figure out that something similar to the scenario I just played out for you happen to me last night. Well it did, but mine was not that dramatic my opponent had Carson Wentz and Josh Adams still to play. Throughout the entire first half it seemed as though that I had a chance, but shortly after the start of the second half things went downhill fast and kept doing bad for me. At the end of the night I ended up on the losing side, 104.14-110.54. With this outcome I finished 7th overall sporting a record of 6-7, I may not have qualified for the playoffs but I have quite the reputation in the consolations and I am hoping to regain what little pride I have left and come out of the league the king of the loser.

Most running back hang it up after a few years, this is because of how difficult the position is on their body. So when Adrian Peterson said he was coming back for his 11 season. The Football world was shocked. Granted he hasn’t played a full season since 2015, this is because of injuries, for most people three years of consistent injuries would be enough of a sign to retire and move on in life not for Peterson. This year is far from being his best year by far, this future hall of famer is still putting up some impressive numbers though. In the Redskins week 13 match up against the Eagles, Peterson did the remarkable and ran for a 90 yard touchdown. Oddly enough, because of this play he actually tied the recorded for most 90+ yard touchdowns, previously solely owned by Barry Sanders. Interestingly enough Peterson didn’t do much other than that monumental run, he finished the game with 98 rushing yards and one touchdown good for 15.80 Fan pts, in his team’s 13-28 loss to the Eagles on Monday night. Peterson looks to build of his promising week on Sunday against the extremely week New York Giants. This game has a chance to be huge for not only Peterson but eh entire Redskins team. With 4 weeks remaining in the season, the discussion of who will win MVP is in full force. However, unlike years in the past I think the conversation for this year’s MVP started and ended several weeks ago. That is because the player that is being projected to win has been putting up monster numbers since week one. His touch down to interception ratio is a 4:1 which is unheard of considering he has thrown for 41 touchdowns on the year, this leads QB by 8 touchdowns. He is second in passing yards by only 20. The most impressive thing about this QB is that before this season he had only played 1 game last year. The QB that started and ended the MVP discussion is none other than Kansas City QB Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes started off the season scorching hot throwing 14 touch downs before he threw his first interception which occurred in week 5. AS most great QBs do they make the players around them shine as well and that has certainly been the case for Mahomes’s favorite targets TE Travis Kelce and WR1 Tyreek Hill, both of which are ranked in the fantasy top 25. They both also have at least 9 TDs this season and over 1,000 receiving yards respectively. A QB is only as good as the support he has a round him, and Mahomes is in good company.
This season has been full of surprises and plot twists, from the recent news of Kareem Hunt’s disturbing video, to big time injuries likes Alex Smiths leg injury. But the story line that has been filling the news all year was the situation regarding Steelers Star running back Le’Veon Bell. Bell being on a contract year, there was a lot of talk early on that he was going to hold out for almost half the season and was expected to return to his team, sometimes after week 7. However, as week seven as come and gone Bell is still not been to one team event in fact he has announced that he is going to sit out the remainder of the season, in order to make sure that he is going to be paid and not suffer an injury before the end of the season which could jeopardize the chances of him receiving the contract that he without a doubt deserves. In his absence the Steelers have had quite the replacement for Bell, in the form of James Connor, just in his second season in the NFL, the 3rd round draft pick out of the University of Pittsburgh has put up quite the numbers for his team. IN his first 12 weeks of being a starting running back in the NFL, Connor, has accumulated 909 rushing yards with 12 touchdowns, this is good enough to earn him the number 10 spot on the overall fantasy rankings thus far. With Le’Veon Bells future uncertain, Conner has definitely made a good first impression which could impact the Steelers desire to pay Bell the monster contract that he is seeking. Even if the Steelers choose to go with Bell, Conner has given himself an opportunity to play on any team in the league.
There comes a time in all fantasy owners career when it comes down to that last week before playoffs, week 13. This week can either make or break your entire season, sure other weeks have led up to this that have put you in the situation that you are in. However, none of that matters now, its win and move into the playoffs or it’s lose and be forced to play in the conciliation bracket and compete for the highly touted king of the losers crown, or as some leagues refer to it the toilet bowl champion. This time of the year most teams look extremely different then how it looked in the beginning of the season whether it’s from trades, injuries, or add drops. Everyone is hurting and it is rare to find a team that has gone unscaled by the injury bug. Unfortunately for me I was not so lucky in my league, With Melvin Gordon going down with a knee injury in week 12 I slowly felt all the momentum I had accumulated the weeks prior, begin to leak out uncontrollably. Even with the big loss I felt as though I still had a chance to claim the last playoff spot and give myself a chance at the crowd. Things started off great as my opponent had two players play on Thursday who scored a collective 10 points. SO going into Sunday I thought I had it locked down. But as things normally go I was completely wrong, I had players that I have leaned on all season score, less than 5 points. 3 to be exact one of them being the notorious Julio Jones. However, my team isn’t going down without a fight with a big game out of Keenan Allen I have secured a 20 point lead going into Monday night with no players left to play. My opponent however, still has Carson Wentz and Josh Adam who have to yet to play in their week 13 game. Am I crazy to think I still have a shot? Maybe, all I know is that I am going to be glued to the TV tonight rooting for the redskins to shutout the defending Super Bowl Champions. In the Chiefs first game without Star RB Kareem Hunt, they arose victorious over the now 2-10 Oakland Raiders. The absence of Hunt didn’t seem to faze the Kansas City offense has they scored 40 points. The only real difference was the amount of rushing yards that were accumulated by the 4 Chiefs that were given opportunities to rush the ball. The player with the most chances, was now starting running back Spencer Ware, wow rushed 14 times for a touchdown and only 47 yards, earning fantasy owners an acceptable 12.20 Fan pts. Although Ware is now the first string back he did not lead the team in total rushing yards in the Chief’s Sunday contest. That was none, other than rookie sensation QB Patrick Mahomes, who successfully rushed 9 times for a total of 52 yards. Mahomes did most of his damage with his arm on Sunday, passing for 295 yards and 4 touchdowns earning him a cool 33 Fan pts. on the week. The Chiefs return to action Sunday December 9th when they square off against the Baltimore Ravens in a week 14, AFC matchup. Although the Chiefs are pretty much a lock for the playoffs it will be interesting to see if they can continue to put out the same numbers on a weekly basis even without their star running back. Although Cooper did out perform my prediction of 6.8 points, Coopers was able to put up a modest 13.5 Fan Pts. Against a very good Saints team. Oddly enough, he had the same number of receptions has he did in his week 12 match-up against the Reskins. But unlike last week, this week he was only bout to obtain 75 yards and no touchdowns. Unlike his week 12 performance where he put up 180 yards with two TDs. All and all Cooper had two decent weeks in a row only the second time he has been able to do this all season. This could be because he is finally settling into his new offense and his new team, or it just could be luck. Either way, Amari cooper is looking to turn around a very pessimistic first half of the year, and be as productive has possible in the Cowboys last three regular season games in the 2018 season.
With the news of Kareem Hunt's releases from the Chief still hot of the press, eyes now to turn to his replacement, Spencer Ware. The four-year veteran took a back seat last season to Hunts monster rookie campaign. Ware has had even less touches this season then he did last season up until this point. The running back position was very much Hunts and so were all the rush attempts this season. However, with Hunt out of the picture, the 9-2 Chiefs are left with uncertainty at the RB position. Going into week 13 Ware has had limited involvement on the field, averaging under three rush attempts a game and collecting minimal yards with those limited number of carries. However, if the 1st place Chiefs hope to stay on track with the unbelievable season they are currently having, they are really going to need Ware to step up the plate and take care of the running game. Don’t be surprised if the Chiefs give the ball to Ware a ton in their week 13 match-up against the Raiders. The Raiders have given up the 10th most points to running backs this season, which could give Ware the opportunity he needs to get in the swing of being a starting running back.
Every player in the league has weeks where they do do well and weeks they do bad, but one player especially has had the epitamy of an up and down season. It all started week one when Cooper put up a below satisfactory 2.80 Fan Pts after being targeted only 3 times, however he followed his underwhelming performance with a huge week two scoring 21.60 Fan Pts after 10 receptions and 116 yards. This week like any big week from any player in the league ensiles hope into fantasy owners nation wide. However, the love for Cooper wouldn't last long. In week three, Cooper couldn't get open and put up and embarrassing 3.70 Fan Pts after only catching 2 balls for 17 yards. After such a tough first three weeks most fantasy owners started doubting Cooper, rightfully so. However, in Amari Cooper fashion he cam back big in week 4 dropping a monster 26.80 Fan Pts catching 8 passes for 128 and even scoring his first touch down of the year. If the first 4 weeks didn't confuse fantasy owners enough Cooper went on to score a collective 2 Fan Pts. in the next 3 weeks combined. This led to Cooper getting the traded form Oakland to the Dallas Cowboys. This proved to be beneficially for Cooper has is production level started to increase over the next few weeks, climaxing this past week when he scored a season high 38.00 Fan Pts after receiving 8 balls for 180 yard and scoring two touchdowns. I am not a gambling man but if i was I would bet the house that Cooper does what he does best in his week 13 match up against the Saints, and that is underperform and disappoint fantasy owners nation wide. Prediction 6.80 points 3 receptions 40 yards
James Conner, running back for the Steelers, has had season that only he may have expected to have. With Steeler's star running back Le'Veon Bell, continuing to hold out as a result of this being his contract season, Conner has done nothing but reaped the benefits. Through 9 weeks, James Conner is ranked 5th overall in Fan Pt. which is a result of him rushing for 850 yards while scoring 9 Touchdowns in just 9 weeks. However, this young running back may find himself back on the bench with Bell scheduled to return for the Steeler's week ten match up against the Panthers. However, most analysis still believe that at least for the Carolina game, Conner will be the number 1, while Bell is working in touches trying to get back in stride of things. this is evident in Conner's projections for the next two weeks, next week Connor is projected for 22.02 Fan Pts. while Bell is only projected 9.12, while the following week when he Steelers playing the Jacksonville Jaguars, Conner is only projected 9.89 Fan Pts. while Bell is projected 15.52. It will be interesting to see how the Steelers handle their surplus of talent at the running back position in the weeks to come. If there is one thing that we do know even if Conner takes a back seat to bell, he proved his worth in the weeks where he played and because of this i could see Connor being a force in the NFL if not on the Steelers then on any team that would take him. |
